Poor Quality Machines With Only One Year Warranty = Breakdowns

Many of the soda/snack machines sold on the market today are very poor quality machines. Many companies compete on price only - they will beat anyone's prices. But in the end it is the distributor who pays the price - in lost revenues and lost locations. These machines have poor quality motors resulting in "motor stutter" - which causes snack products to get hung up on the end of the coil. The customer therefore gets upset and often shakes/pounds on the machine. If they can't get the product to drop, they complain to the location management. Location owners don't have time to field machine complaints and will demand that the machine be removed. The machine owner must then find a new location. These poor quality machines typically have only a one year warranty - showing the lack of confidence the vending company has in the machine. Many compressors with these machines fail at about 18 months. Since this is past the one year warranty, the machine owner has to foot the bill to have it replaced.

Limited Drink Options = Limited Income

Many soda/snack combos reduce flexibility in the drink section to cut costs. Some will vend only cans or only bottles. Those that vend both typically restrict you to one size. For example: you can vend 16.9 oz soda bottles but not 20 oz water bottles. Many of these machines cannot vend energy drinks - so distributors miss out on the multi-billion dollar exploding energy drink market. Look carefully at pictures of the machine you are considering. If an energy drink is not displayed, you are missing out on this huge market. If they can only vend one size of drink, you are missing out on a huge part of this market.

Cannot Accept $5 Bills = Less Sales

Many of these machines have a bill acceptor/validator that will not accept $5 bills. This is a huge disadvantage and results in lost sales. Many products today sell for more than $1 - especially energy drinks and microwaveable meals. If a customer wants to purchase products in the $2-$5 range, using a $5 bill is the logical choice for them. If the customer does not have multiple $1 bills they will seek out another machine to use. In addition, some machines accept $5 bills - but only the old style bills. The new $5 bills that were introduced in March 2008 will be rejected by these machines.

Usually Sold Illegally By Unregistered Resellers

Vending is a big industry - over $46 Billion/year. This industry unfortunately attracts its share of unscrupulous individuals and companies. These resellers work with the cheapest machine they can find, sell it for a year or two and then close shop. This of course abandons their distributors with no parts, support or assistance of any kind. They operate under the radar and do not follow the guidelines set for vending companies by the Federal Trade Commission and State agencies. They change names frequently to avoid detection. Read Better Bureau reports in their entirety and demand an FTC or State disclosure document from every company you are considering. Protect yourself against vending scams.

1.800.VENDING Follows the Law

We provide a disclosure document to every distributor we work with - it is required by law. We also register with the Attorney General in States where it is required. Legitimate vending companies register with the States and provide disclosure documents required by the FTC. It's that simple.

Lack Of Experience and Support

Many individuals and companies selling other machines are new to the business. They sound good on the phone but don't really know a lot about the industry or the machine they are selling. Look at their disclosure document to find out how many customers they have sold to. They are required by law to give this information in Item 16 of their disclosure document. Demand to see it. Be very weary of companies having sold to less than at least several hundred customers. Many of these companies do not have a support team or process in place. They do not plan on customer reorders so they do not "waste" resources on taking care of existing customers. They provide limited information on the machine itself and no information on how to start or run a vending business. They sell machines, not turn-key businesses.
